So I've read the booklet and not ready yet to watch the dvd.
Strangely though over the past several weeks I've finally been able to listen to TTATS with the exception of Void. Then again I'm in a very different mind place now than I've ever been.

It has indeed Terry. I waited for Nicky to get home from Uni and we watched it together. Captivating is the word I'd use. Quite like finding a missing piece to a jigsaw, you already had a good idea of what was in the piece but finally finding it and slotting it in.
We did comment he's been taking lessons from Robbie, he he quite some language there Mr Hayes!The only thing I missed was in Adelaide he finished the TCFC concert with Spin and it was absolutely brilliant! The London concert finished with Affirmation? Would have loved to see Spin live again.

I haven't bothered to order a limited edition DVD but I might well buy the bog-standard one if and when it comes out in the stores. [img]smile.gif[/img]
Got my DVD today. I have read the booklet but not watched the dvd yet. I found the booklet quite moving and sad. I still find it a bit unsettling to read how much dh regretted Spin and how unhappy he was during that time, as that was when I 'discovered' his music and I stand by my liking for Insatiable and most of Spin.
Affirmation (the album) did provide a kind of escape and help to my problems at that time but Insatiable and Spin were the catalyst which began my admiration for the music and following that the artist.(I had Affirmation and Savage Garden but rarely played them until after I heard Insatiable on the Radio)
I admit to not playing any of his cd's lately but will probably do so after after seeing the dvd as I did after seeing 'A big night in'.
I am saving the dvd until I have some child free uninterrupted time. I was at the London concert that was filmed so am looking forward to reliving that - minus the screamming teenagers that were next to us way back in the stalls!

The DVD is both in parts funny but also quite poignant. I love the way the concert footage is interwoven with comments by Darren during the documentary. I found him to be extremely honest, but also very hard on himself. There are some extremely amusing episodes and what you see is a warts and all Darren, completely self deprecating.
I think that delaying its release until 2006 was in fact a very good move, because it allows the viewer a much clearer perspective on the past, on what was going through Darren's mind in hindsight. It's a very retrospective piece of film.

I think we could've had a concert dvd and then a documentary later - but as he financed the thing himself - perhaps it would've proved too expensive?
I have to say that we may well have joked that pigs would fly before we'd get this DVD - but it was well worth the wait. Although I've wanted to see the concert for so long it has been the documentary that has both fascinated and amused me. It's so strange that Darren is so hard on the himself that existed then, and yet to me he still seems very genuine and likeable. The prank calls section of the doc is particularly hilarious, and I'm so glad I waited for the end of the titles to see that last scene!
As always Darren comes across as 50% headcase (I mean that nicely!) and 50% sensitive guy, over-sensitive at times!
A brilliant snapshot of a difficult time in his life.
